From a tiny warung
to a Sanur landmark
In 2008, on a quiet narrow road in Sanur village, Ibu Ketut planted the seed of what would become Juicy and Crispy. After six years cooking in a restaurant, she opened a tiny Balinese warung, "Warung Yannik," serving Ayam Betutu with rice and homemade sambal matah — a dish that quickly became a local favourite.
A trip to Europe changed everything. In a corner of a local morning market in Alsace, France, Ibu Ketut watched fresh chickens turning slowly on spears over a low rotisserie flame — and she couldn't stop thinking about it.
Four years later, in 2012, she made it real: a rotisserie grill went up in front of Warung Yannik. After many, many test roastings to get the spice and the turn just right, the warung took on a new name — Juicy and Crispy.
Today, J n C is a well-known meeting point for locals, expats, and travellers alike — still serving that same authentic sambal matah alongside a menu that's grown to include burgers, rice bowls, and more.
